Our Active Streets team have adapted the street closure offer inline with government guidelines and restrictions and are keen to work with the community to hold adapted events. Active Streets have worked with several schools to close the area around and outside the school for a couple of hours. We provide street games and create a safe space for children to play and for parents and local residents to get to know each other.
We have held themed road closures to raise awareness for issues concerning air quality, road traffic and the environment. We have monitors which can measure the air quality and we can promote and deliver activities which encourage children to walk to school. If you are an eco-school, we can work with you to explore and promote ways that children can help improve their local environment. A major focus of our school street closures is encouraging children to see the benefits of active citizenship.
