An innovative partnership involving a range of organisations across Birmingham and Solihull has secured £9.72m* of National Lottery funding from Sport England to deliver Active Communities a new vision to tackle physical inactivity in Birmingham and Solihull, reaching the population of over 450,000 people.

The Active Communities project is looking to employ a Local Community Action Officer to work in and with the citizens of Shard End, Smiths Wood, Kingshurst, Fordbridge, Chelmsley Wood, Glebe Farm and Tile Cross. Salary – £22,000 – £25,000 a year (36.5hrs a week/flexible/secondment)

Over the past few months the Wellbeing Team have been in Handsworth visiting people to find out more about the community and it’s community activists. ‘Active Communities’ event in Handsworth is the first event in a series to bring people together to make things better locally across Birmingham.
