Spotting Trees

Spending time with trees can really make you feel better, and you don’t need to go to a forest to find activities you can do with trees.  There are so many activities with trees – we’ve highlighted a few and linked to others here.  Planting trees can also be a truly satisfying activity with a lasting impact on your local area.

Tree hugging

Yes, this really can feel good, but if you feel a bit self-conscious hugging a tree, you could try leaning up against it and spend a minute looking at the branches and leaves above you, or just taking in what’s around you.  You could set an alarm on your phone to see what it is like to literally spend a minute just focusing on what’s around you – just make sure you don’t end up looking on your mobile to check how much time has already gone!

Activities for children

There are so many ways to enjoy trees, from craft activities to just climbing up them – you’ll also find many resources available for activities at different times of the year.

Know your trees

While adhering to the strict social distancing rules, why not, while on your daily walk use the Woodland Trust’s Twigged link to spot and recognise trees in your local area. Its fun, interesting and great to learn more about our beautiful trees! Happy tree spotting!
