Getting started on your Windowsill Garden
Finding seeds
If you don’t have seed packets you could try growing from seeds and other things in the kitchen:
Ginger
Ginger makes a great pot plant for a kitchen windowsill – if there is a knobbly bit on it already, plant that bit pointing up. It can’t go outdoors though as it needs to stay warm
If you have one already sprouting in your vegetables, you’re half way there! Cover in earth and keep watered.
Avocados, chick peas, sunflower seeds, Pumpkin, squash, tomato seeds and herb seeds
A lot of seeds you might have in your herbs, or in your leftovers, will grow very well given a bit of tender loving care. Golden rule is plant things as deep as they are big. Avocado seeds will grow in water and make a great project to watch the roots growing, if you have a see-through plastic container.
