Spotlight on…Urban Devotion Birmingham

This ‘Spotlight on…’ blog series is aimed at shining a light on some of the 70+ partner organisations that are making the #BrumTogether campaign possible.

Next up on the spotlight list, is Urban Devotion Birmingham:

Q. What do you do?

A. Our aim is to transform communities by building relationships with children, young people and families across four estates in Erdington. Our Christian faith underpins all that we do and motivates us to create welcoming spaces for people of all and no faiths.

We’ve been around since 2003, but the Covid-19 crisis has forced us to adapt and rethink the way we operate. We’ve been blown away by the influx of new volunteers and partners during this time and currently have 30 volunteers on board.

Q. How are you helping #BrumTogether?

A. We’ve partnered with The Active Wellbeing Society to coordinate the delivery of hot food in North Birmingham – primarily to families that we know through our schools and communities work. We’re also working with other Erdington partners with the broader food response.

Q. Are you doing anything else to help Birmingham communities?

A. We have a daily online presence through Instagram and Facebook, which we’re using to develop relationships and provide mental health and family support. We’ve developed craft packs, mainly for those who have limited or no access to the internet and are delivering digital chats and online groups for children and young people.
