John’s professional background is in public sector audit and governance. He is a Fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Public Financial Accountants (CIPFA) and currently works for Audit Scotland, having previously worked at KPMG LLP and the Audit Commission. In addition to providing audit services he has worked with many organisations helping them address governance and financial challenges to improve services and deliver better outcomes for local communities. John’s particular area of focus have included social care, early years education, social housing and green open space.

More broadly he has also conducted data quality assessments against the recognised standards leading to improvements in service provision and quality, as well as strengthening performance reporting processes to secure improved decision making.

In his spare time John enjoys the outdoors. He is a keen cyclist, walker and amateur fruit and vegetable gardener.
