Big Birmimgham Bikes & Big Bike Project
Helping communities to overcome barriers to cycling
Big Birmingham Bikes was established as part of the Birmingham Cycle Revolution a £70m cycle infrastructure pioneering programme to give out free bikes to citizens residing within the most deprived areas of Birmingham, aiming to overcome the barriers to cycling, encourage sustainable travel with those who are usually excluded, as well as improve the health and wellbeing of residents encouraging more people to cycle in and around the city; making Birmingham healthier, greener, safer and less congested.
We have now grown across other areas outside of Birmingham and developed as the Big Bike Project working in Solihull and with other Local Authorities to improve cycling provision in their area.
We provide cycle training, Bikeability training, led rides, loan bikes, recycled bikes and in partnership with Cycling UK develop community clubs to offer a pathway for continued engagement.
