Since 2017, The Active Wellbeing Society has been working with individuals, communities, organisations and partners in making system changes that contribute to sustainable social, environmental, economic and wellbeing growth and help build resilience in our most deprived neighbourhoods.

Our Community Bike Scheme is one of our most established projects and, over the last five years, we have supported the delivery of over 10,000 bikes in some of our most disadvantaged communities.   We have also delivered free cycling lessons, maintenance workshops, established community cycle clubs and trained lead cycle riders.

Inclusive travel.  Community cohesion.  Healthier, greener, and safer places.

In partnership with Sport England and its Local Delivery Pilots, and organisations including the Department for Transport, the NHS, and Local Authorities, we are enabling more individuals to overcome the barriers to cycling; encouraging sustainable travel for those who are usually excluded.  Helping to make places healthier, greener, safer, and less congested.

Our ambition is to enable more people and places to access the many community benefits of cycling.
