The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS) and St. Paul’s Community Development Trust have been in partnership for two years working together to ensure the funding of the Balsall Heath City Farm, as well as working together on the site to bring support and services to the local community in addition to those already being provided there. This includes a community kitchen and a portable Share Shack.
The agreement was a two-year partnership, and TAWS have advised that they will now be moving on to deliver their services elsewhere in the community. TAWS will be leaving the Farm at the end of December 2021. St Paul’s have been very grateful for the support given over the period and look forward to further working together in the future.
St. Paul’s Chief Executive Dave Cusack said “Our relationship with TAWS has been very positive and we thank them for stepping in at a very difficult time for our urban farm. I wish TAWS well in their next endeavours and I’m sure our paths will cross again.
TAWS Chief Executive Karen Creavin said “We have learnt a lot from working with such a great community-based organisation like St. Paul’s. We were a young organisation with much to prove. St Paul’s, with their long history in the area, have shown us how to embed ourselves in a community and be in it for the long game. We have loved working there with them, and while we are sad to be moving out, it is now time for us to have some space of our own. We have made some great relationships and look forward to carrying on some joint working in the future”.
