Kelly’s Story - August 2022

Kelly was made homeless in 2020 at the start of COVID, due to fire damage at her previous accommodation which caused her to lose all her possessions. She suffers from isolation, vertigo, agoraphobia, osteoarthritis and finds it very difficult mixing with people because of hypersensitivity.

Currently Kelly is  living in supported accommodation, looking to be rehoused.

Through the wellbeing support available at Witton Lodge, Kelly has been receiving regular wellbeing phone calls from staff and volunteers which have helped her to cope with her isolation and loneliness.

Kelly enjoys the tranquility of Witton Lakes, which is helping with her mental wellbeing. She has also expressed interest in assisting with a Duckling Watch.

Kelly has been regularly coming to the Eco Hub and enjoys the safe environment of the park and is considering exploring other green spaces in the UK. She is also enjoying making her own nature videos particularly whilst at Witton Lakes.

Kelly has recently bought an electric bike, she adds: “This has allowed me to get away from my living conditions for a short while” – Enabling  her to gain confidence and improve her mindfulness.
