Weekly Sessions by Witton Lodge

A new scheme launched by Witton Lodge Community Association is offering support to people who are isolated and vulnerable as a result of the current social distancing measures. Weekly support sessions, delivered online, aim to encourage social interaction and connection between people in an effort to boost their emotional wellbeing and mental health.

Debbie Bates and Fauzia Begum host the sessions which are delivered through video communication tool Zoom. They are an opportunity for people to share their experiences, feelings and coping strategies along with information that may be useful in helping each other deal with the current situation.

Fauzia shared that they can be a very effective source of emotional support by helping people to learn how to stay motivated. They are also useful in getting people to share their feelings more openly in order to overcome any worries or fears and gain hope and control.

If you are feeling isolated, anxious and distressed due to the current crisis, you can join this free online health and wellbeing support group. The sessions run on Tuesdays 3-4pm on Zoom. Use the link here: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/718639510)

Witton Lodge are a community association and community landlord, established in 1994 by residents in Perry Common, as a response to the announcement that 908 houses would be demolished. Currently they own and manage almost 200 homes for social rent and a 40-apartment Extra Care Scheme, Sycamore Court. But they do so much more; with everything from helping local people with jobs and skills, getting involved in a wide range of environmental projects and helping people to live well. They work with the local community and partners to host a wide range of community events and activities and hire out our venues including Perry Common Community Hall.
