Before moving to The Active Wellbeing Society Val worked for Birmingham City Council for 28 years across several departments and roles.
Val worked in public-facing roles as an Assistant Housing Officer, Policy and Information Officer and Benefits Team Leader for 7 years. During this time Val qualified with a HND in Public Sector Management from UCE Birmingham.
In 1997 Val moved to the Sport and Leisure service where she worked for over 20 years in roles including Area Support Officer, IT Trainer, Memberships Manager, Business Systems Assistant Manager and Business Development Officer.
In 2015 she became a Project Lead working across innovative projects for Leisure in Birmingham. Initially working on Active Data and the use of data and customer insight, then more recently working on Active Communities leading on community engagement, consultation and development. Val also led on the This Girl Can campaign for the Wellbeing Service in 2017 and enjoys working on and supporting community events.
Following her transfer to The Active Wellbeing Society in 2018 Val was appointed as Head of Membership and Citizens Services for The Active Wellbeing Society.
