The Active Wellbeing Society Launches Virtual Activity Finder

The Active Wellbeing Society are the first provider in the country to launch the first of its kind OpenActive-enabled live stream and on demand Virtual Activity Finder at https://theaws.co.uk/virtual/

You can search and find live streams or on demand activities for anything from cooking, reading, online learning, dancing and even light exercises in your home or garden. We have searched the internet to bring all the best and free content all in once place – saving you lots of time. Consider it like a Netflix for online activities and live stream activities.

Our core work revolves around supporting people to feel more active and connected in their communities. During this period of self-isolation and social distancing we are not able to physically bring people together to participate in activities, but it’s just as important that we all remain active and connected.

We ourselves will also be broadcasting live activities via Facebook! These include some of our regular sessions like Tai Chi and Zumba and also some new activities that you can try. .

This Activity Finder is open for anyone to access, use and share. Our data is OpenActive enabled meaning more people can discover and take part in new activities and enhances the sector’s engagement and reach. From websites and apps that attract millions of users, to communities and services that engage local people, these activities automatically feed into any other local finders that have also been OpenActive enabled.

By doing this, more places, products and services can better inform people of opportunities to get active that are offered by multiple organisations.

We’d like to invite organisations and instructors to share their activities with us too – we are looking to share any activities that are both FREE and accessible.

The health and wellbeing of our community is our priority. Since 18th March 2020, we have been broadcasting live from our Facebook page every day, and we can to signpost you to other trusted resources. These activities and resources are free to access and can be found on our website, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter.
