Spotlight on…Fareshare

This ‘Spotlight on…’ blog series is aimed at shining a light on some of the 70+ partner organisations that are making the #BrumTogether campaign possible.

Next up on the spotlight list, is Fareshare:

Q. What do you do?

A. We aim to fight hunger and tackle food waste by redistributing surplus food from the food industry to charities and community groups across the Midlands.

Q. How are you helping #BrumTogether?

A. FareShare Midlands is supplying food to support the city response to the need for food parcels while people are isolating and vulnerable. Each week, we’re delivering around 45 tonnes into the Ladywood hub, including fresh fruit and veg, tins, dried goods and chilled products to enable the team to create much-needed food parcels.

Q. Are you doing anything else to help Birmingham communities?

A. Our work is purely about food distribution, but as well as sending around 45 tonnes of food per week into Ladywood, we’re also distributing 35 tonnes of food per week to 180 charities across the West Midlands, many of whom are Birmingham based and responding to the COVID-19 crisis.
