Corporate team building
Team building that makes a difference
The Market Kitchen is situated at the heart of Birmingham’s Wholesale Market and helps to reduce food waste while tackling cost of living pressures by creating cooked food to help support communities across the city.
- Book your away day with us and ‘cook for Birmingham’ by taking part in a fun cook-off with lunch provided and a meeting space for your team afterwards if you wish.
- See first-hand the diversity of fruit and vegetables on offer at Birmingham Wholesale Markets that matches the rich diversity of our city.
- Contribute meaningfully and tangibly to increasing access to food to those in need across Birmingham – cook for the community and learn some skills along the way.

Our offer
Meet at the Market Kitchen for a briefing and a drink. We’ll take a trip around the market to buy some fresh produce to complement the surplus food donated that day. Finally, you’ll be divided into two teams and learn how to cook using ‘rescued’ produce with our professional surplus food chefs.
Sit down and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch together – eating together is one of the most important times of the day.
There is a large café space available for a team meeting afterwards.
Costs: £1,250.00 for teams of up to 12 people

Optional extra: Food Justice Network donation
Donate an extra £1k as part of your experience to provide a tonne of fresh produce to share across the Food Justice Network. We will buy the tonne when you arrive and you will get to see it before it’s redistributed.
The Food Justice Network is a network of over 250 organisations offering food-based support to communities across the city. Most of these organisations offer ‘more than food’ and often food is an entry point for people who then go on to access the wider support available such as Information, Advice and Guidance to help make them more resilient.
