Kate left college in 2002 after studying Health and Social Care and started her career at Birmingham City Council, where her passion for helping people from deprived communities started. Working her way up through different job roles within Birmingham City Council she settled at Newtown Swimming Pool where she spent 10 years persevering to get more activities for ladies and their children to participate. Kate helped support the beginning of the ‘Heart of Birmingham PCT’ free scheme, which gave hundreds of Birmingham residents free access to gym and swimming daily.
In 2015 Kate moved on from leisure Centre’s and joined the Active Parks team, as a Physical Activity Activator, and established relationships with communities and hard to reach individuals which lead to providing more activities in local parks and open spaces. In 2017 Kate became the Active Parks Coordinator which allowed her a more hands off approach to delivery, and could concentrate on building community links and developing Active Parks to better meet the needs of the community. In 2018 Kate then became the Active Parks Manager.
