Joy began her leadership career over 30 years ago as an educator designing ground-breaking learning programmes for some of Birmingham’s most marginalised communities.

Since then Joy has gone on to senior leadership roles in education, local authority and civil society including 16 years as CEO of brap, one of the UK’s most progressive equality and human rights charities.

brap is bold in its belief that the equalities agenda needs a total rethink if we are to address issues of inequality as part of a globally diverse society, and works to support and partner with cities, organisations and individuals that want to make progress and impact.

Joy is a recent graduate in the use of process work, a method to help democratise spaces and encourage people to raise views outside of our accepted norms.
