Join us and make International Women’s Day count….

International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated every year on March 8. It’s a day where women are recognised for their achievements and an opportunity to push for more gender equality.

This year’s theme is Balance for Better. It is calling for a gender balanced world, from government to business, community to physical activity.

We are urging everyone from friends to followers, volunteers to even our own staff to help us raise awareness of International Women’s Day and join us on a special Run Birmingham 5k walk/run. You can find out more about our International Women’s Day run AT https://www.facebook.com/events/399904140821612/

We are also running a free portraits workshop with partners Saheli, this Friday as part of our Visualising Women’s Voices work

Join in on the fun online too, we are asking all our followers to post your #IWD2019 message on social media. Take a picture with your “hands out” in balance pose just like the image below and don’t forget to tag us on Twitter: @TAWSociety, Facebook: @theaws and Instagram: @theaws.co.uk. We will aim to share as many as possible!

With the Run Birmingham run/walk taking place as well as our own fun little social media contest this is a great time to start thinking how you can get more involved in social activities in your local area.

We have 8 women only activities on our website for you to check out here. Our key partner Saheli also have some interesting programmes for you too, please check out such as: Holistic Interventions, Active8, Saheli Hub Running and Saheli Hub Cycling

You can also use this opportunity to submit your ideas around women only activities or anything around female empowerment by joining The Crowd.  The Crowd gives you an opportunity tell us what’s good about your community, what needs to get better and what you want to do or change to help people get out and about to enjoy the streets, parks and open spaces.
