The Active Wellbeing Society and Sport Birmingham, with support from This Girl Can, are hosting a two-week, hybrid festival aimed at supporting leaders in community sport and activity to provide more positive, safe, and accessible experiences for women and girls.
The coaching and leadership festival, based in Birmingham and the West Midlands, is now live – starting from Saturday 11th until Saturday 26th April. A range of free and discounted sessions are available across the fortnight, with local and national partners, such as England Athletics, South Birmingham Paddle Club, and Women’s Sport Collective, sharing their expertise through networking events, workshops and training opportunities.
Despite recent progress, women remain underrepresented as coaches and in leadership roles within the sport and physical activity sector. Coaches of women and girls often face unique challenges around inclusivity, retention, and wellbeing. It is our hope that through this partnership work, we can better support our workforce to create positive experiences for women and girls and start a movement towards a more equitable and supportive sector for women to be a part of.
