Real food not junk

TRJF Project food 1

Every Thursday Lunchtime make time for lunch at Ladywood Health and Community Centre, B16 8RP.  The PayAsYouFeel Lunch Café & Boutique is open from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm.

ActiveStreets works with The Real Junk Food Project (TRJFP) in Ladywood to support the Lunch Cafe. TRJFP is a volunteer run initiative that is based around intercepting food from restaurants and supermarkets that usually would end up in a landfill and distributing them to communities instead.

Operating out of cafes and share houses the project operates on a Pay-As-You-Feel basis, encouraging their customers to pay either with money or their time and skills in exchange for food.   This partnership enables us to expand their food distribution network as well as allowing the ActiveStreets team to deliver warm, home cooked food to communities across Birmingham.

It’s also a chance to meet up with some friends and socialise:

‘I’ve had meals here and I volunteer sometimes – the people are great and you always get to have a good chat.’

The Real Junk Food Project runs cafes across the city all on a PayAsYouFeel basis.

And here’s a quick sample of what’s on offer:
