Walking Football in Northfield

Active Parks bring Football back to life for older players on Victoria Common, Northfield, with free ‘walking football’.

For many people it may not have seemed quite so possible to take part competitively in football, that is until Walking Football United, now played across the West Midlands.  And the team from Northfield is always on the look out for new talent, or more experienced players.

The group plays small-sided games with players prohibited from sprinting, running or jogging. Anyone doing so is penalised with a free-kick.  There is minimal contact with no slide tackles or tackles from behind allowed.  It can be mixed gender and inclusive:

‘It’s all about fun…people who have loved the sport all their lives can once again get back to playing.’

If you’d like to find out more contact Charlton Davies, or just join in on Victoria Common 1pm on Thursdays.
